Hi John,
I almost posted the same thing on my blog until I was alerted to this being bogus. Check out http://www.snopes.com/politics/traffic/california.asp for the right information on this. It all was too good to be true.

Thanks Lenore - I’m glad somebody is reading and not afraid to comment. I’ll set my lender straight that sent me the email.
Hey Owen!

This traffic law list is a hoax. You can get a list of actual new traffic laws from the DMV, or email me and I’ll send you a copy.

#8 is incorrect. If you get arrested for DUI, you always end up spending the night in jail until they release you the next day, unless they find something additional to arrest you for. It stays on your record for 10 years and for 10 years you can NEVER get caught with any alchohol in your system. Zero tolerance after the first bust. The thing they should be talking about is the fact that 0.08 blood level is the legal definition of drunk and you are going to get processed through the system. Below .08 is “officer descretion” which probably means DUI as well. The other penalties involved with DUI are 5-10 days of community service, Drug & alchohol school (4 sessions I think) and about 12 weeks of counselling for drugs and alchohol. If you do community service on weekends only it feels like 2-5 weeks of hell with all of the mandatory sessions plus working 40 hours. And don’t forget $5000 - $10000 in lawyer fees.
