Crow Canyon Sea Lions Danville Champions

Crow Canyon Country Club Sea Lions Retain County Championship

They did it again! The mighty Sea Lions won the County Championship for the fifth year in a row! The Sea Lions’ home base is the Crow Canyon Country Club in Danville.

We want to congratulate Dan Cottam, Athletic/Aquatic Director, and all of the swimmers and his fabulous staff for a magical 2009 swim season. The Sea Lions once again established themselves as the dominant force in the Contra Costa County with their FIFTH consecutive County Title!! The Sea Lions were also the Dual Meet Champions (10-0), VSA Champions for the 3rd year in a row, Woodlands Invitational Champions (5th year in a row), Blackhawk Relay Champions, and 2nd at Aquapentathlon. Way to go!!

Are you thinking of moving into the area and you have children that are currently on a swim team I can guarantee you that you are in the right place. This area is one of the Top 5 swim regions in the country. Swimming, like soccer, is a fanatical obsession at the base of Mount Diablo; families in the communities of Alamo, Blackhawk, Danville and San Ramon are especially religious about their swim teams. There are nine teams in the Valley Swim Association (VSA): Crow Canyon Sea Lions, Blackhawk Hox, Diablo Sharks, Roundhill Heat, Del Amigo Dolphins, San Ramon Aquacats,  Sycamore Stingrays, Club Sport Marlins and the Danville Sea Devils. They all swim against one and other which guarantees for an incredible fun and entertaining social event.

The 2009 Fall Swim Program is just around the corner and this has always been such a large part of the Sea Lions success as the children are able to stay in shape and enhance their skills and technique for another 3 months of the year. The Fall Program starts on Monday, September 14th and runs through Friday, November 27th. Practices are Monday through Friday: 8-unders go 3:30pm-4pm, 9-10's go 5:30pm-6:30pm, and 11-ups go 6:30pm-7:45pm. There is a pro-rated fee for those that play multiple sports in the Fall. Dan Cottam really encourages the swimmers to do this program even if they can only participate a few times a week-it will still pay dividends in 2010! Every kid can be part of the swim program; you don’t have to be a member of the Crow Canyon Country Club but members will receive a discount. My son has been on the swim team for many years now and as a member of the Club my wife and I have enjoyed many fun meets with our friends and their children.

Go Sea Lions!
