DYPS - Agent Personalities
The DYPS - Personality Types
4 Problematic Real Estate Agents
They're wild, they're wacky, they're looney AND they want you as a client. How to survive and have some fun when one of these four characters wants your business.
Daffy – tripping over everything, befuddled by all. Early on in your interaction with Daffy, you begin wondering how and why this individual chose a career in real estate. Daffy remembers the first sentence or paragraph, but wanders quickly into blustery confusion – all the while working hard to over compensate.
To keep your sanity, it helps if YOU take charge and explain things.
Have some fun, distract Daffy and shuffle all his papers.
Yosemite – your high-powered agent that blasts into and through everything with guns blazing. Sam’s nature is to bury you in B.S. or overpower you energetically. If you look closely at the windshield of his car you see the water spots are on the inside. Sam loves the deal, people are an inconvenient, yet necessary part of the transaction.
To deal with Sam professionally, slow down your speech, ask for references and fact sources.
To have some fun, smile a lot, ask a lot of questions, never answer a question directly and pretend to have all the time in the world to buy or sell.
Pepe’ – a sweet talking agent with more sophistication and charm than you can stand. It’s fun for a few minutes, but the flattery loses its seduction the more you move the conversation toward reality and your needs as the client.
Speak plain English and keep asking Pepe’ to repeat until the fake accent fades.
If you have the time, keep asking Pepe’ about Pepe’.
Sylvester – always on the hunt for that next sweet deal. If you start to think of yourself and your home as a tasty morsel, you’re feeling the full effect of Sylvester. This agent is always trying to sneak up on you with the close.
Ask Sylvester for the names of a couple of clients and peers that would recommend him. Ask for professional credentials and associations.
Delight yourself by dangling that tasty morsel of the closed deal so close that he unconsciously begins to drool.
That’s all Folks!
