Greenbrook Elementary School Without Power
Transformer Causes Loss of Power to Greenbrook Elementary School and Greenbrook Homes
The power transformer between the multi-purpose building and the library went down last night (caused by a malfunctioned PG&E transformer), cutting off power to the school and much of the surrounding neighborhood. District staff, the fire department, and PG&E have all been working at our school to restore power as quickly as possible. The fire department and a Hazmat team did not find any hazardous material around the transformer and approved the school for occupancy today.
The students and teachers have been wonderful in adapting to the situation. Temporary lighting has been provided where needed and generators have been brought in to provide portable heat. Teaching and learning is going on as usual. Hot lunch is being served today with food brought in from the outside.PG&E estimates that full power could be restored by 2 PM today.
