Walnut Creek CA Continues Upscale Makeover

In addition to Neiman Marcus and the Cheesecake Factory moving into downtown Walnut Creek, CA, there are other projects adding to Walnut Creek’s extreme makeover from a convenient East Bay suburban community to an up scale retail commercial center.

Nordstrom is remodeling and expanding its existing store at Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek. The two-phase project will add 32,000-square-feet to the existing floor plan for a total of 225,000-square-feet. Upgrades include new designer shops and open-sell cosmetic cases that allow customers to touch the merchandise much like they would in the apparel departments of the store. The remodel will also include new flooring, updated dressing room finishes, new furniture and fixtures and new wall treatments. The remodel is scheduled for completion in 2010.

Avalon Walnut Creek Transit Village – On July 17, 2008, at 10:30am, AvalonBay Communities, Inc., Millennium Partners, the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART), and the County of Contra Costa will host a ground-breaking ceremony for a innovative public/private transit- oriented development, Avalon Walnut Creek at Contra Costa Centre. The four partners are jointly investing $400 million in this residential/mixed-use Transit Village, which is adjacent to BART's Pleasant Hill station.

When completed, this project will include 422 residential apartments, of which 85 will be affordable units, 20% of the total. High-quality and multi-functional, Avalon Walnut Creek will also include 100 condominium units, 35,000 square feet of local service retail, a civic use area, 19,400 square feet dedicated to a business conference center, and 270,000 square feet of office space.

Renaissance ClubSport Walnut Creek – Marriott and NormCal health club development firm Leisure Sports, Inc. have teamed up to create a new concept, which essentially boasts the same higher-end features of most Renaissance properties with monster fitness offerings.

Walnut Creek residential real estate will continue to increase in value as the city continues to expand its tax base and appeal as one of the East Bay’s choice commuter communities.

For those that haven’t had a close eye on Walnut Creek real estate, Walnut Knolls, up the hill to the east of Broadway, is continuing to see major remodels adding to this neighborhood’s appeal.
