Asian Grocery Stores Open to Huge Crowds
Business has been booming in Dublin and San Ramon for the past two weeks – at least for the newly opened 99 Ranch Market and Le Asia Market, that is.
Populations of Chinese, Indian, Vietnamese and Japanese have achieved a growth spurt in the Tri Valley during the past decade. A growing Asian presence has made it a natural progression for ethnic businesses to open up.
The 30,000-sq. ft. 99 Ranch Market on Regional St. in Dublin has been full of customers since its opening last week. The same goes for the even larger Le Asia market on Alcosta Blvd only two miles away in San Ramon.
The shoppers at 99 Ranch and Le Asia are drawn by the variety of seafood available as well as the imported goods that cannot be found at other chain grocery stores like Albertson’s and Safeway.I went to a high school in Berkeley and there was a 99 Ranch less five minutes away from it. There were numerous times when my friends and I would just hop in a car and drive there to pick up some snacks or bubble tea.
Their seafood department is definitely something to take a look at. There aren’t too many places I know of out there where you can poke at lobsters and live crabs with your fingers.
