Mercury Removal
Most residents of Contra Costa County recently received a copy of the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District Pipeline – the newsletter for CCC water treatment.
The lead article was – Mercury Removal Remains a District Priority. I won’t recap the article, but I do want to add a footnote to help emphasize the importance of the issue.
We have heard a lot over the past 30 years about mercury contamination in fish and all the warnings about seafood and tuna.
It takes less than 0.014 gram of mercury to contaminate the fish in a 20–acre lake!
Every computer contains about 0.5 grams of mercury. Do not throw your old computer in the trash, take it to an electronics recycling center. These centers often benefit charities like research for the prevention and cure of breast cancer.
